ESOP Economics Supports Camp-Out for Hunger

On a bright morning in late November, the ESOP Economics Team drove down to XFINITY Live! in South Philadelphia to deliver 50 pounds of food to Preston & Steve’s Camp-Out for Hunger. Each year, WMMR’s morning show raises funds and collects donations of non-perishable food to help area residents who are in need. All donations support Philabundance, the Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization. They specialize in acquiring, rescuing and distributing food to help feed those in need, and advocating for policies that increase food access. The mission of Philabundance is to drive hunger from our communities today and end hunger forever.

ESOP Economics participated this year by bringing non-perishable goods to support the food drive. The team was greeted by volunteers who accepted our bags with grateful thanks and smiles. Everyone on site was happy to be there and thrilled at the chance to help others. The air of excitement and community was contagious. Each member of the ESOP Economics team left the site knowing a family’s holiday season would be brightened by their donation.

In just one week, the Preston & Steve’s Camp-out for Hunger raised over 1.6 million pounds of non-perishable items for Philabundance. In addition to food, more than $272,00 in monetary donations were collected, giving Philabundance the ability to distribute over 2.2 million meals in the coming year.

This year's Camp-Out for Hunger may be over, but there is still time to give. Hunger exists all year round. If you would like to learn more about Philabundance or lend your support, please visit their website.
